ART

SPEAK ACADEMY

At Speak Academy, our art curriculum is a vital part of our students’ educational journey, fostering creativity, self-expression, and a deep connection to the world around them. Rooted in the Oxford International Primary Curriculum, it is designed to inspire curiosity and imagination while developing essential artistic skills.

Art as a Medium for Exploration and Expression

For primary years students, art is more than just an activity—it is a powerful tool for self-discovery and communication. Through artistic exploration, students learn to express their thoughts, emotions, and perspectives in ways that transcend words. At the same time, they develop an appreciation for different cultures, ideas, and artistic traditions, expanding their understanding of the world.

A Hands-On, Multi-Media Approach

Our curriculum encourages students to experiment with a wide variety of creative media, including:

• Painting and drawing – Building foundational skills in color, composition, and technique.

• Sculpture and 3D art – Encouraging spatial awareness and hands-on creativity.

• Collage and mixed media – Inspiring imaginative combinations of materials and textures.

• Digital art and photography – Introducing modern artistic tools to complement traditional methods.

By working with different materials and techniques, students develop confidence in their creative abilities, learning that artistic expression has no single “right” answer—only opportunities for growth and discovery.

Creativity as a 21st-Century Skill

In an ever-changing world, creativity is one of the most important skills a child can develop. Our art curriculum nurtures critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, empowering students to approach challenges with an open and creative mindset. Whether they go on to become artists, designers, or professionals in entirely different fields, these skills will serve them throughout their lives.

At Speak Academy, we believe that every child is an artist in their own way. By celebrating creativity and exploration, our art curriculum ensures that students not only develop technical skills but also gain the confidence to express themselves, think independently, and appreciate the beauty in the world around them.
